Migrate from Coincraft

Moving off Coincraft doesn't mean rebuilding your practice by hand in Monument. One import copies it across in full and lands it as a brand new organisation, so your projects, people, time, expenses and invoices are all there from day one. You can start that import the moment you sign up, or leave it for later and run it from your account menu instead: it's the same import, offered in two places.

A backfill, not a merge

The mental model here is simple: this import is a one-time copy, not an ongoing sync. It builds an entirely new Monument organisation from your Coincraft data, so there's nothing to reconcile and nothing already in Monument for it to merge into. Cancelling out of the preview, or coming back to it days later, changes nothing: the import only starts the moment you click Import Selected.

Because it creates rather than merges, there's also nothing to prepare beforehand. Pick the organisation, start the import, and Monument assembles the rest on its own.

What actually comes across

The backfill is thorough. Monument works through your Coincraft data stage by stage, bringing across:

• Contacts and suppliers.
• Resource pools and the people in them, with their rates.
• Projects, and the phases and tasks that structure them.
• Allocations showing who's booked on what.
• Time entries, expenses, and the revenue derived from them.
• Invoices and their line items.
• Activity history, so the record of what happened is preserved too.

The organisation you land in is a mirror of the firm you had in Coincraft, ready to work in immediately.

The offer right after you sign up

Straight after creating an account, Monument drops you on the choose-organisation screen. If your account is matched to Coincraft, Import from Coincraft sits alongside Create a new organisation and Create a demo company, so migrating is one of the first choices you're offered, not something buried in settings.

You don't have to decide on the spot. Opening the panel just previews what's there: it lists the matched organisation, already selected, without starting anything. Closing it again leaves you free to explore Monument first and come back to the import whenever you're ready.

   Click Cancel instead of Import Selected. The panel closes and nothing has been imported.

Running it later from the account menu

Say you skipped the offer and explored a demo company first. The same import is still one click away, this time from your account menu at the foot of the navigation rail.

   From the dashboard, click your initials at the foot of the navigation rail to open the account menu.

   Choose Import from Coincraft to open the same panel you saw after signup.

   Confirm Coincraft Test is selected.

   Click Import Selected. Monument creates a fresh organisation and starts pulling everything in.

   Watch the import run on its own. Larger practices can take a few minutes, so keep the dialog open until it finishes.

   When it finishes, Monument switches you straight into the new organisation, listed under Your Organisations.

Depending on the size of your practice, this can take several minutes. Keep the import dialog open while it works: Monument switches you into the imported organisation automatically the instant every selected import completes, so there's nothing else to click.

What you land in

The moment it finishes, you're switched into a complete Monument workspace mirroring your Coincraft firm: the schedule shows your actual projects and stages, Time and Invoicing hold your real history, and Resourcing reflects who was genuinely booked where.

The new organisation joins any others you belong to under Your Organisations in the account menu, so moving between firms is always a click away. From here it's a normal Monument organisation. The rest of the getting-started guides show you around it.

Troubleshooting

• No Import from Coincraft option, on either screen? It's gated on your account being matched to a Coincraft account by email. Until that match exists, both entry points stay hidden, and that's expected.
• Already ran the import? Once it completes and the organisation exists, there's nothing left to import, so the option disappears from both the choose-organisation screen and the account menu. That's confirmation it worked, not a bug.
• Large firms take a while. Years of time entries and dozens of projects is a genuinely big backfill. Keep the import dialog open while Monument works through the stages; it switches you into the imported organisation automatically when every selected import completes.
• This is a one-time copy, not a sync. It builds a new organisation from scratch, once. Keeping a Coincraft firm and a Monument organisation in step afterwards is a separate feature, and it's not what this import does.
