Monument

Navigating the Timeline

How to scroll, zoom, and navigate the schedule timeline efficiently.

Overview

The schedule timeline can span months or years of project work. Monument provides several ways to navigate it quickly โ€” scrolling, zooming, keyboard shortcuts, and jump-to-date.

Scrolling

  • Horizontal scroll โ€” scroll left/right to move through time. Use your trackpad, mouse wheel (with Shift held), or the scrollbar at the bottom.
  • Vertical scroll โ€” scroll up/down to see more tasks (in the Gantt) or more resources (in the swim lanes).

All three schedule sections (Gantt, swim lanes, revenue graph) scroll horizontally together, staying in sync.

Zoom / View Scale

Change the zoom level to see more or less detail:

View ScaleShowsBest For
WeeklyIndividual daysDetailed short-term planning
MonthlyWeeks within monthsStandard project planning
QuarterlyMonths within quartersHigh-level portfolio view

Switch view scale using the controls in the schedule toolbar.

Jump to Date

Click the date indicator in the schedule toolbar to open a date picker. Select any date to jump the timeline directly to that point.

The Today button snaps the view to the current date, highlighted with a vertical line on the timeline.

Expanding and Collapsing Sections

Each of the three schedule sections (Gantt, swim lanes, revenue graph) can be expanded or collapsed:

  • Drag the divider between sections to resize them.
  • Double-click a divider to collapse or expand a section entirely.

This is useful when you want to focus on just the Gantt chart or just the resource view.
